Established to promote the sport at all levels, TLCB focuses on training young players, organizing tournaments, and building cricket infrastructure. Since its foundation, the board has played a vital role in introducing cricket to local communities, ensuring its growth across the country.

History & Background

Cricket was first introduced to Timor-Leste in 2013 by Muhammad Tayyeb Javed, who saw the potential of the sport among local children. Starting with just a cardboard bat, a car tire as a wicket, and a tennis ball, he launched the “Cricket for All” initiative. Despite financial struggles and a lack of equipment, cricket slowly gained popularity. In 2014, the Timor-Leste Cricket Board was officially registered, marking a significant milestone.

Over the years, TLCB has worked tirelessly to promote cricket in Timor-Leste, hosting youth tournaments, school programs, and international matches. In 2024, Timor-Leste participated in the Bali Blast International Cricket League, showcasing its growing talent on an international stage.

Cricket Development & Youth Programs

TLCB focuses on grassroots cricket, offering training programs in schools and communities. The Cricket Academy provides young players with coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to develop their skills. The national team is also being prepared to compete in global tournaments, ensuring that Timor-Leste cricket gains international recognition.
