DILI, Timor-Leste — The spirit of cricket is sweeping through the classrooms and playgrounds of Timor-Leste, as the Timor-Leste Cricket Board (TLCB) continues its nationwide mission to introduce the sport to the younger generation. In our latest grassroots initiative, a vibrant and energetic school training camp was successfully held at Eskola Shallom, drawing an overwhelming response from enthusiastic students.
From the moment the coaching equipment was set up on the school grounds, a palpable sense of excitement filled the air. Young students, eager to try their hands at batting, bowling, and fielding, swarmed the pitch area, demonstrating a remarkable natural affinity for the game. The camp was designed not only to teach the basic fundamentals of cricket—such as proper grip, stance, and hand-eye coordination—but also to foster teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness among the youth.
Teachers and school administrators at Eskola Shallom expressed their delight at seeing such high levels of engagement. It was evident that the students are taking a profound interest in the cricket game, with many eagerly asking when the coaches would return for the next session.

Speaking on the success of the school outreach program, TLCB representatives emphasized that nurturing talent at the school level is the cornerstone of building a strong cricketing future in Timor-Leste. By bringing cricket directly to schools like Eskola Shallom, the board aims to provide equal opportunities for boys and girls to discover a passion for sports, stay active, and dream of representing their nation on the international stage one day.
The Timor-Leste Cricket Board extends its heartfelt gratitude to the management, teachers, and students of Eskola Shallom for their wonderful hospitality and enthusiastic participation. TLCB remains committed to expanding these school training camps across more districts in Dili and beyond, ensuring that every child gets a chance to pick up a bat and experience the joy of cricket.
