BARIQUE-NATARBORA, TIMOR-LESTE — The Timor-Leste Cricket Board (TLCB) expanded its grassroots outreach into the administrative post of Barique-Natarbora, hosting an engaging youth cricket clinic at EBCP 1,2,3 Abat-Oan School.
Led by Treinador Helder Gomes, the interactive session introduced local students to the essential foundations of cricket through structured drills and fast-paced activities.
Building the Basics in Barique-Natarbora
The clinic targeted novice young athletes, focusing on approachable and enjoyable skill development:
- Batting & Bowling Fundamentals: Practical instruction on proper stance, bat swing, and smooth bowling mechanics.
- Fielding & Agility Drills: Catching, throwing, and reaction games designed to sharpen hand-eye coordination and movement.
- Mini-Games: Short modified matches providing participants hands-on experience with teamwork, communication, and basic gameplay rules.

Expanding Access to Sport
School-based clinics remain a cornerstone of TLCB’s vision to make cricket accessible to children across Timor-Leste. Coach Helder Gomes commended the students for their high energy and enthusiasm throughout the clinic.
TLCB extends its gratitude to the administration, teaching staff, and students of EBCP 1,2,3 Abat-Oan School for facilitating the session. The board aims to maintain ongoing engagement with schools in the region to support young talent with follow-up coaching and equipment.
