Youth Development Surge: Massive Student Turnout at TLCB Training Camp in Eskola Akadiruhun

DILI — Expanding its grassroots outreach across educational institutions, the Timor-Leste Cricket Board (TLCB) successfully conducted an intensive youth cricket training camp last month at Eskola Akadiruhun.

The development clinic saw a huge turnout of school children, highlighting the rising popularity of cricket among student athletes in Dili. The multi-day session introduced participants to core athletic fundamentals, covering foundational batting stance, controlled bowling techniques, fielding drills, and basic game strategy.

TLCB development coaches spearheaded the training, using tailored drills designed to build confidence, coordination, and teamwork among young beginners while identifying standout local talent for future structured programs.

“The incredible turnout and enthusiasm displayed by the students at Eskola Akadiruhun demonstrate the strong potential of school-based sports programs,” TLCB representatives noted. “Partnering directly with local schools allows us to make the sport accessible to every child and establish a solid base for our national youth pathway.”

Building on the success of the Eskola Akadiruhun initiative, TLCB will continue rolling out similar educational partnerships and youth camps across the territory.
