DILI — Continuing its nationwide push to promote sports and healthy living among youth, the Timor-Leste Cricket Board (TLCB) successfully conducted an energetic youth cricket training camp last month at Eskola Centro Shallom.
The multi-session clinic saw a huge turnout of enthusiastic students, marking another milestone in TLCB’s school outreach campaign. Under the guidance of certified TLCB development coaches, participants engaged in hands-on coaching covering fundamental aspects of the game—including batting fundamentals, bowling precision, fielding techniques, and tactical teamwork.
The program at Eskola Centro Shallom was designed to be both educational and engaging, instilling core values of sportsmanship, discipline, and healthy competition in young athletes.
“Seeing such a huge quantity of children eagerly embrace cricket at Eskola Centro Shallom reinforces our belief in the power of grassroots sports,” stated TLCB officials. “Our goal is to build a solid foundation in schools across Timor-Leste, ensuring that every young boy and girl with a passion for the game has a pathway to grow and excel.”
TLCB plans to build on the momentum generated at Eskola Centro Shallom by organizing follow-up sessions, district inter-school fixtures, and identifying standout talent for national youth academy consideration.
