DILI, TIMOR-LESTE — Young energy was on full display today as the Timor-Leste Cricket Board (TLCB) brought its grassroots movement to Escola Vila Verde on August 29, 2026.
The interactive, single-day session gave students a hands-on introduction to the sport, blending foundational skills training with fast-paced, high-energy games on the school grounds.
Bringing the Game to Life
Led by dedicated TLCB development coaches, the visit focused on breaking down the basics of cricket into approachable, fun challenges for students of all experience levels.
Key highlights from today’s clinic included:
- Batting & Bowling Basics: Simple, practical coaching on stance, bat swing, and smooth bowling actions.
- Fielding & Reaction Drills: Fast-paced catching and throwing games aimed at building quick footwork and hand-eye coordination.
- Mini-Match Action: Short, adapted games that let students test out their new skills while learning about teamwork, communication, and basic match rules.

Nurturing Local Talent
Outreach visits like the one at Escola Vila Verde are a central pillar of TLCB’s vision to make cricket accessible to kids right in their own schoolyards, building passion for the sport from the ground up.
TLCB extends its sincere thanks to the administration, teachers, and enthusiastic students of Escola Vila Verde for opening their doors and bringing so much heart to the pitch. The board plans to stay in touch with the school to offer continued coaching support and gear so students can keep playing regularly.
