DILI — Maintaining its drive to take cricket to every corner of the capital, the Timor-Leste Cricket Board (TLCB) successfully executed an intensive youth training camp last month at Eskola Nicolau Lobato.
The clinic witnessed a massive turnout of young students, filling the school’s sports field with energy as local children eagerly picked up cricket bats and balls. Certified TLCB development coaches ran comprehensive practical sessions covering the fundamentals of the sport—including correct batting technique, straight-arm bowling mechanics, energetic fielding drills, and basic match strategy.
The session was structured to encourage fitness, team unity, and dynamic sportsmanship among participants while helping national selectors identify talented young prospects for further structured coaching.
“The incredible turnouts we continue to see, including this phenomenal response at Eskola Nicolau Lobato, demonstrate how deeply cricket is connecting with our school students,” a TLCB spokesperson remarked. “Our focus remains clear: providing every child with the opportunity, guidance, and equipment needed to play and enjoy the game.”
TLCB continues to consolidate its grassroots outreach by planning follow-up training modules and establishing local inter-school competitive matches across Dili.
