DILI, TIMOR-LESTE — The Timor-Leste Cricket Board (TLCB) officially wrapped up an intensive and highly successful three-day Grassroot Cricket Course today, held from August 23 to August 25, 2026, at the U19 Cricket Center in Bidau Toko Baru, Dili.
The comprehensive training program brought together 25 emerging participants from five distinct districts across the country to strengthen foundational skills and elevate the standard of cricket development in Timor-Leste.
Broad District Representation
Reflecting TLCB’s commitment to expanding the game nationwide, the course welcomed participants representing key regional centers:
- Dili: 12 participants
- Manufahi (Same): 5 participants
- Manatuto: 4 participants
- Ermera: 3 participants
- Aileu: 1 participant

Comprehensive 3-Day Curriculum
Over the three days, participants engaged in a balanced mix of classroom learning and hands-on ground training designed to cover all core aspects of modern cricket:
- Day 1: – Theoretical Foundations: The opening day focused on classroom sessions covering cricket rules, tactical awareness, team dynamics, and structural fundamentals.
- Day 2: – Practical Application: Participants took to the field at the U19 Cricket Center for intensive drills focused on batting techniques, bowling actions, fielding mechanics, and specialized wicket-keeping routines.
- Day 3: – Comprehensive Evaluation & Certification: The final day was dedicated to assessing each participant’s individual progress, practical execution, and technical understanding.
Closing Ceremony & Certification
The training session concluded with an official closing ceremony where all 25 participants received certificates of completion in recognition of their dedication, discipline, and effort throughout the course.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, TLCB representatives reaffirmed the board’s ongoing commitment to grassroots initiatives as the cornerstone for building strong future national teams and expanding sports participation across all districts of Timor-Leste.
